E-Town Fair

This week the fair came to town! I love the fair and it was Kacen's first time to the fair. He mostly liked the animals.

Bunnies! Which if you know Kace this is a miracle, he sat still to hold it, I think he just loves little animals because at church he sat still sitting with the Barnums while he held a looks-like-real-life stuffed puppy.

Baby chicks hatching, the one in the bottom left hatched only 10 minutes earlier.
More cow cows, Kace was way too excited to get to all the sheep, goats and cows that he did NOT want to held to stay still.
 He found this cow....
Sat down petted the cows head, then....proceeded to cover the cow with hay, silly boy. These calves were sooo calm.
 Sheep and goats

Ok so we figured we are at the fair and Kace has  to try a carni ride. Last week he tried those cheep rides by the grocery store, and loved it so I picked this car merry-go-round. Well....haha the carny hooked him in and I started to walk away and my non-clingy kid began to cry his head off. But once it started moving he calmed now, never once smiled. All the while Ky was standing back there plotting how to save Kace if he started climbing out, haha what a great dad.
This was the first fair I have been to with a Medical Marvels Show, we will probably go to that Thursday, but their ticket sales guy swallowed a sword!

See sword, and yes a giant python there too.

This was actually the climax, for years (six exact) I have been telling Kyle that my favorite fair ride ever is the Zipper, once in high school I rode it five times in a row, back then it was only .50cents. So Ky wanted to take me on it, now the price has increase to $5, but $5 well spent.
Jessi and I went together while Ky stayed with Kacen. Half the time you are so elated thinking "I'm riding the zipper!" half the time you scared for your life on the creaky jolty carnival ride. To add to it I had a sucker in my pocket that fell out and was bouncing around our cage and I was terrified that it would get stuck in a gear and kill everyone, but luckily that didn't happen.
Not only was the Zipper sooo sooo sooo fun, we ate a funnel cake. Oh I love the fair!

The Beach

Like I said in my last post about the cactus, for the last two weeks Kyle's brother Chad, his wife Amy, and their twins Lily and Ellie, have been here in PA visiting their parents. We had all of Kyle's family together for the last time in at least two years because Ian will leave soon to serve a mission for our church. Though it was a little crazy it was fun too. We went to the Delaware beach Monday thru Wednesday, it was pretty rainy but still fun. True to form on our beach trips I once again didn't take pictures but this time it was because I left my camera in PA. But a huge thanks to my photographicly inclined sis-in-law Amy, she at least got a couple of pictures to prove we were there and Kacen went to the beach, haha.

Like I said it was rainy! Mon and Tues at 3 p.m. huge rain storms swept in. Kace got all tuckered out.
Kace liked digging in the sand and standing in the shallow water, but he got cold easily, here is aunt Jess warming him up.
And aparently not only is Amy great at photography, but gymnastics too, haha. Thanks again Amy. For those of you who are friends to us both head over to their blog soon to see more fun pictures of their stay here.
I tried surfing for my first time, considering the waves were 2 feet high and broke on shore, let's just say it didn't go over too well. But at least that is one experience I can check off my list, though I will definitely try it again in better surf conditions if the opportunity arises. And a big thanks to my in-laws for organizing such a great trip!

So what happens when this bad boy (isn't that such an ugly cactus?) meets my little Kecerkins?

We get our first glue experiment!
Did you know that by applying a couple of thin layers of glue over the skin, in this case ALL OVER two tiny hands, then by peeling it off you can remove most embedded cactus needles? My sister K'Leena recently experienced this with my niece in Utah, so yesterday when Kacen and his cousin decided to play with cacti I thought I would try it out.
The worst part for Kace was having to sit still while it dried, but we did get them all out, with a little help from the tweezers.

Today we went to the dairy! It was pretty cool, the kids loved it, haha well so did Ky, haha ok we all loved it.
Kace was a little hesitant at first but you know him it only takes him minutes before he practically wanted to hop in the pin with the calf.
 Ky lovin' on the cow.

This cow wanted to lick everything and the kids loved "feeding" him hay. The girls sort of had a hard time getting their hands close enough for the cow to eat, Kacen had a hard time getting too close and nearly loosing some fingers.

 Cow Kisses!
A trip to the dairy isn't complete without ICE CREAM!

 Nana, Lily, Ellie, Kacen
Yeah Not the best family photo, but it works.

Walking the Stream and Family Visits

While today is rainy and stormy... the past couple of weeks have been so hot!  So we have spent some time outside, but I can't lie I tend to hide inside when it is so hot.
I don't know if I have ever mentioned but Ky likes photography and takes, what I think are, cool photos. Here is one of his brother Ian long boarding, if you couldn't tell from the last post they have been doing a lot of long boarding lately.
 Ky doing an awesome slide.
Saturday night Chad, Amy, Lily and Ellie came in from Iowa. And Sunday we went to down to DC to Henry and Amber and to see the newest addition to our family Henson James Lopez he was born July 4th, we will never forget that birthday. Yep our Raleigh family consists of Raleighs, Congers and Lopezs, haha diversity is great! It was so nice to get all of our Raleigh family together again, here is our one shot attempt at a family photo and there I go ruining it by closing my eyes, augghhhh!
Yesterday was so hot and I hid in the house all day so I was dying to get outside, finally around 5:00 p.m. we went to park and walked down the stream. Kacen loves it. Last time we went he would NOT let go of your hand, and this time he kept wanting to go all by himself.
Kyle found some crawdads.

And Kacen liked picking up rocks and throwing them.
 Kacen after a triumphant throw.
The teeter-totter, don't they look like their having fun. haha. I guess they were both done with that activity when I came to take the photo.
And though I don't have the pictures to prove it, it has been really fun to have our cousins here. Kacen loves having playmates but for some reason them being here has made him start to scream louder and more often, not out of sadness but when they play, what a silly kid.

Today we are headed to Roots market (our huge farmers market, and yes there are lots of Amish there), then possible to pick peaches, if it clears up, and maybe the dairy, (idea courtesy of the Tingey's, thanks!)
