Andie Fingers

Today Andie and I spent five uninterrupted minutes just sitting together. No TV, no crazy brother, no phone, no daddy, no anything. Just me watching her chew on her fingers. Learning how to put one in, then two, then three, then the whole fist and starting again on just one finger. I love Andie girl. Today was a lazy rainy day, the mall, just hanging out at grandmas while she was at work, burritos, a card table fort and yeah blogging.

The Harbor and the Gym

Yesterday took us to Mount Desert Island to visit Bar Harbor, or as the locals would say Baa Haa Baa. It is a huge tourist town off the coast of main. We saw Santa Clause but thought it would be totally rude to take a picture because he isn't at his prime yet, it will be another three months til he is really ready to show his colors.
Kacen and His Grandpa Murphy headed to the shore front

 Family photo
We drove halfway around the Island and found this small little pier where the fishermen were bringing in the lobster cages.
While Ky was looking back through the photos he saw this one and said, in reference to where I was looking, "Fishermen butts drive me nuts."
I am standing on this tiny little post that sticks up about 15 feet out of the water.
My parents live in a college town and the house they are renting has this huge profile on their window covering. Any guesses who this is?
Today we went to see Steven Kings house. It is sort of weird to be taking a picture in front of a person's house, but here it is. Actually I had no idea who Steven Kings was, well I knew he was famous but had no idea what books he wrote of movies he influenced. But I have learned "It" was one of his ideas.

My mom had a meeting at her church so we went and hung out in the gym. We played some Bball and then did some wheelchair races and tricks and stuff.

Kacen was pushing us, it was a wittle scarewee
Then it was home for Friday night pizza night!

Two Months

Well our Andie girl is getting bigger and bigger I wish I could have better photo skills but this is what we got. Haha her one month is so not flattering of her, but whatev. She is still the cutest thing ever. PS this is getting up late she is actually 12 weeks today so her three month will be up soon.

Milestones: Smiles lots and lots, laughed three time while falling asleep and once at her brother. She loves to stare at her fist. She has quite a happy disposition. And she does sleep well, usually about a seven hour stretch each night then eats and goes back down for 3 more hours.

We love our Andie Bear!

Going to Grandma's

Monday we left on a week long trip up to Maine to see my parents. The first leg of our trip was from PA to Connecticut. The trip was rather uneventful, we stopped at Cici's for dinner and saw this rainbow.

We stayed the night at my sister's house and left early in the morning. Emily, my neice, and Kacen both love having a friend to play with it is so fun. But we left while Em was at school and when she got home my sister said that she searched the house and when she couldn't find us she had a full on meltdown.

We stopped at the Hamptons, posh, to check out the Ocean. It was really blustery and cold and Kacen was quite leery of the loud water crashing on the shore. But Ky and I just loved seeing the ocean it makes up happy.

We finally made it to Maine, and stopped at my moms work to see here then went to their house and got the nasty feeling of car ridding washed off.

Today we went to see the frog crossing sign, and some of the local sites.
Andie was super cute in her car seat after being changed from two blowouts in a three hour period.
And for dinner we had lobster! Eh I guess I just don't have the taste for it. It made me sick to see them live then to have to break them up and see all the nasty innards eh, it wasn't for me but Ky and Dad loved that I was really good at pulling it apart for them, gotta love the food network.
But the saddest part was how scared Kacen was of the lobsters, he was hysterical. Sorry the video won't work of the lobster meltdown

Tomorrow we are off to Acadia National Park.

Our Weekend at a Glance

Friday was Kyle's Birthday! We celebrated with a date to Washington DC to visit the LDS temple there. Then we went to dinner with some surprised guests, though Kyle blew the surprise. I had arranged for Henry and Amber to meet us at the restaurant earlier in the week and on our way to DC Ky said, "Oh you should quickly text or call Henry and invite him to dinner." I didn't want to blow the cover so I pretended to send a text then pretended to get one that said they couldn't make it. So when we got to the delicious Mexican place Ky saw Henry and Amber and said, "Oh you made it after all." He wasn't even surprised because he just thought they made it from the text I sent them.

Saturday we went to Dutch Wonderland, courtesy of the Whitlocks (thank you!) with the kids. It was pretty fun, well you know as fun as taking a two year-old who doesn't understand lines and waiting, who still needs a nap and who has a ton of energy to a huge public place is.
 The logs ride
This flying ride looked like a ton of fun, Kace was really excited but please note, there are no safety straps on the ride just that cage, that Kacen could probably squeeze through. So when he didn't really want to stay on his stomach while the ride was loading I was happy to take him off and let Ky ride alone.
This panda ride was much more his level.
The funnest ride I went on was this twister ride, Ky caught some fun pictures of us.

Three hours past nap time we were heading home, yay for Dutch Wonderland.
Actually it was pretty fun. And Kacen was good, well relatively.

Andie was just a sweetie pie
Sunday was a nice day we went for a long drive.
Well that was it.

What's for dinner?

Butternut Squash Black Bean Tacos
Mmmmm dinner at the Conger/Raleigh household was mighty good tonight. Well to me.  We have a ton of butternut squash in the garden like at least 20 more coming in, if you want one let me know. Plus we can't help our selves at Roots, everything looks so yummy. So we have been trying to incorporate more veggies in our meals.
Basic instructions:
Saute onions and banana peppers in a little oil until soft, add in chopped butternut squash plus 1/2 C. chicken stock, salt and pepper, cover and cook until squash is soft. Uncover let moisture evaporate add in spices (cumin and ancho chili powder). Then add the green peppers (I like a variety of textures so I didn't cook mine with the earlier peppers) and cook for a minute or two. Stir in one can of drained black beans cook til heated then top with chopped cilantro. Serve on corn tortillas with cooked quinoa, lettuce/cabbage, salsa and cheese (feta or cojita if you can get it) and yeah sour cream/Greek yogurt and guac if you are into that.

Well that's all it was a simple flavorful nutrition packed mean so I thought I would share.
