Out With The Old, In With The New

Remember how we didn't have a baby pool so Kace just played with pots and pans? Yeah I am that ghetto, or I guess creative, right? Well anyway, it was so hot the other day the pot had to come out again, and yep he still loved it!!!

But for as much as he loved this!!! He loved this even more

Woo Hoo New Pool!

Memorial Day was soooo hot, and we were headed to the Park for a church picnic and his grandparents were so great and got him a new pool.

I "lost" my camera this week. It was just in my closet but I guess I looked for it about as thoroughly as any man would. So what did you miss this week? A super fun party at a gymnastic gym, I had huge rips come off my palms from doing the bars and a rug burn from, well who knows what? I was pretty much all over the place. A dance party! And a fun picnic. Today it was soo hot and the AC broke last night so I cooked dinner in a dutch oven on the grill. And have only planned outdoor food for the rest of the week.

Oh and did you notice... at least this time I put pants on him, little swimmers are still yet to come, I ditched the diaper, put on shorts and hoped and prayed that he wouldn't take a doo doo.

This is my first humid summer and my hair is hating it! So I am not quite the first person to jump into a photo these days. And I feel soo wet all the time, sick! We are totally having a slumber party in the basement tonight because all the other rooms are on the third floor and too hot.

Over Due

This post is over due! A couple of weeks ago I did away with this long frumpy hair do for something more summery and cute! Unfortunately I don't have any super cute pictures of me in with my new hair cut...yet.... We got awesome, seriously I mean soooo cute, pictures done a couple Saturdays ago by Laura Montgomery  you can see a preview of one picture on my facebook. For those of you who don't have facebook, sorry just wait a couple of weeks and I will show you when I get them.

Funny Stories

1. The other day we loaded in the car to run errands and go to Wally World, (oh man side note everyone take a break and go watch this, sooo funny, thanks Mary) after about twenty minute of driving I realized Kacen was being really quiet so I looked back and he was reading a book...or so I thought. I turned back and said to Ky, "Oh man he is so good sitting back there reading his book." A second later I saw something small heading towards his mouth. I grabbed the book and he was back there so quite because he was ripping all of the hidden picture tabs out of the book! Naughty Kacen.

2. As we were leaving Wal-Mart Ky and I thought of a really great business opportunity, we are going to wait outside of Wal-Mart and when we see crazy people thinking they can fit their "next best" purchase into their four dour sedan we are going to heft it home for them. Seriously we see this all of the time, too big TVs, too big tables, etc. We seriously sat in our car for entertainment as we watched a couple try to squeeze a huge TV into the back seat of their car, while the mother-in-law stood leaning on the cart return rail holding the leash to Kujo wearing, no joke, boxers.

3. Once we finally had enough of the squeeze fest we were leaving the parking lot and saw all of the unfortunate people who thought our world would end Saturday, bummer for them, hurray for us.

The Market

Nearly every Tuesday I head to Roots Market, a huge Farmers Market and Auction. I don't usually go to the auction area but my Mother-in-law loves the auction so today that is where we hung out.
3 Watermelons $4.50
A case of Avocados $7.00 (any one need avocados? seriously call us)
Case of carrots and sugar snap peas $2.50
Cantaloupes $.89

Here are Ky and Kace at the Auction
 Valarie at the auction
Ooohh yeah forgot Saturday was a fun day! I mean just a lot of yard work and errands but still it was great! But the best part, Old Navy $1 flip flop day, look how cute Kacen's are!
Wish I had more fun stuff to say, mostly just yard work and house work and job search. Ky didn't get the job in Rhode Island but we are still hopeful and excited for the next opportunity.

Love This Book (this post is all about food)

I love this book! This week I made a double batch of light wheat refrigerated dough with that dough I made:

3 Chicken Alfredo Pizzas
5 Baguettes for Bahn Mi sandwiches
1 Apple Crumble Pizza, I at the entire thing myself!
6 Cinnamon rolls
1 Loaf Sandwich bread

This bread is so great I have also made pitas and obviously artisan loafs using it too. Thanks Emilie for telling me about this book.

It's Wednesday Wednesday Fun Fun Fun

Today was such a wonderful warm day!
We drove Ky to the airport then played outside.

It was so hot I needed to bust out some water but the only big containers we had were pots and tupperware, I will definitely be purchasing a baby swimming pool soon.
Then I cut off some of Kacen's pants to make shorts I even did some patch work.
Look at this nice double stitch on the hem...Go Me!
Here he is showing off the new shorts, while, doing karate a new fun trick his grandpa showed him. If you pretend to do like street fighter fire ball throw he gets all crazy and moves his hands around each other and tries to do karate too. Super funny, video to come.

I made these beauties for dinner. Alfredo Chicken Pizza. I had never grilled a pizza so I tried is (top picture). The other one was just done on a pizza stone. But the grill worked out ok just a more flat bread feel.  Haha the funky square where I cut the top of the tomato off was weird so I had to zoom in over it.

Homemade dough from this amazing book Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day I love their book and idea and don't want to share the recipe because you should get the book, not that I have I just checked it out from the library but as soon as I'm able I will buy it. The premise is, you whip up a batch of no kneed bread dough and put it in your fridge then when you need pizza dough, rolls, bread, baguettes, etc. you just pull out a handful and cook it. So yummy! Rent it. Buy it. Use it!

I love warm spring days. After dinner Kacen stood outside and watched the neighbors mow their lawn for a LONG time, kids are fascinated with the darnedest things.

Flower Power and Ripped Jeans

Last week my mother-in-law and I went to a flower auction and came home with this....
This Honda Pilot is FULL of flowers seriously we had flats stacked on each other, two on my lap and stacked in the middle console. There were tons of flowers. And then there was the planting. After six hours of planting flowers I was so sore I felt like I ran a marathon, it was ridiculous.

Speaking of RIDICULOUS.....I walked around all day with a gaping hole in my pants and didn't know it. A day or two ago I had these jeans on and Ky told me there was a hole in the rear....welll.... today I forgot that, and tonight he said, "I am surprised you wore those again," "Why?" I asked, "Well you have a huge hole in the butt!" Yep he knew all day that my jeans were ripped and his only excuse for not telling me is that he thought I  already knew.
So embarrassing.

By the way, Ky has a big interview in Rhode Island for a great job Wednesday so keep him in your prayers, we really hope he gets this one.

Where Is My Baby?

All day I have been taking second looks at my son, he looks soooo different. Two minutes ago I was checking my blog, as I often do, and almost started crying looking at his old hair...ahhhh.... I miss it.

Oh yeah I forgot to tell you, in yesterdays post the picture of Kyle and Kacen, that is Ky working on his smolder...too much tangled....haha.

They Were the Best of Times, They Were the Worst of Times

Good news or bad news first?

Well the good news isn't that great so let's start with the bad.

The Dream
I had the scariest dream of my entire life two nights ago. I don't want to go into details but a close friend was possessed by some satanic demon and was trying to strangle me, after a LONG battle, I woke up with a strangled gasp and couldn't fall back to sleep because of my fear.

The Cut
I don't know why I did it... but I did. Well actually I know why, when I rubbed Kace down with sun screen today I went to get his scalp and his hair got all nasty greasy so I thought, "I am going to cut his long hair."

The Before - notice the long flowing locks
Here are Kacen and Ky on a fun hike Saturday

The After
Did ya notice Kacen was so embarrassed by his new do that he tried to cover the camera

Ok for real here it is....ahhhh... don't laugh.
I don't know what happened. I was doing a really cute scissor cut and it looked so cute a super mini fro-hawk or little spikies. Then I noticed it was a little uneven and thought I would bring in the clippers to even it out. Well I have always had problems with measurement perception and I choose a 3...well...way too short, lame. Now I have this, and we have family photos in only 11 days!

The Good News
Today was a really nice, productive day.
Woke up 7:30 a.m. did some reading
Went for a run
Got Kacen ready and made breakfast (haha cereal)
Went to the Roots, (the awesome farmers market $18 for week of groceries)
Made salad mix

Took Kacen to an appointment:
This should go under "the bad" on our way walking across the parking lot, he didn't want to hold my had and kept trying to pull away finally he grabbed my hand with both of his and bit me! He has never bitten out of anger before. I was shocked, and really angry.

Came home and worked in the yard
Made dinner (chicken enchiladas, rice, beans, salad)
Made Mother's Day cards
More reading with Ky
Posted a blog post!

Ok it may not be a ton but it was pretty good for me all the while taking care of Kace.

So yeah it was a good day, the biting aside!
